Judith Apps is a bilingual, Registered Physiotherapist, and personal trainer. Judith has completed an extensive number of post-graduate courses in manual therapy, as well as courses related to running injuries, movement assessment, therapeutic exercise, kinesio taping, osteoporosis prevention and management, and fall prevention risk assessment. Judith consulted for a year with the Real You Program with the Ottawa Police Services, providing exercise counselling and programs to help prevent illness and improve the overall health of the program participants. Judith enjoys numerous outdoor physical activities, including cross-country skiing, cycling, hiking, and snowshoeing. She is a regular runner, and has completed many 1/2 marathons.

Lyne Denis: BScPT, FCAMPT

Lyne is a bilingual, Registered Physiotherapist, who began her career in the Canadian Forces as a Military Physiotherapist. She has practiced in Quebec, Ontario, Germany and British Columbia, where she also owned an orthopaedic and sports clinic in Victoria. She has taken part in physiotherapy coverage in International, National and Provincial sports events. Constantly updating her knowledge through post-graduate education, Lyne has also been an instructor with the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association since 1999. Her treatment techniques include manual therapy, myofascial release, acupuncture, dry needling and exercise prescription. Lyne has a special interest in sports rehabilitation particularly dance, soccer and running injuries. Lyne enjoys running, skiing, hiking, and water sports.

Francine Eastwood: BScPT

Francine Eastwood is a bilingual, Registered Physiotherapist who has a passion for treating runners. Francine has completed post-graduate courses in ART (Active Release Technique), acupuncture, dry needling (IMS/IMT), running biomechanics, injury prevention, and therapeutic exercise prescription. Francine provides state of the art running assessments, using her skills as a physiotherapist and running enthusiast to correct biomechanical faults in running form that may be contributing to injury and limiting peak performance. She has done numerous talks to the medical community and local running groups on running biomechanics and injury prevention. Her rehabilitative philosophy is focused on identifying the cause of the injury, then creating an effective treatment plan consisting of ART, dry needling and a comprehensive exercise program to return the athlete to pre-injury activity. Francine is a former varsity cross country runner and an avid long distance runner and has completed several marathons including Boston. Recently she has become enthusiastic about triathlons and is hoping to complete a half Ironman in the future.

Evolution Physiotherapy is owned and operated by Allen Hicks, a Registered Physiotherapist, Kinesiologist and Personal Trainer. Allen is the only physiotherapist in Ottawa who holds both the FCAMPT (Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy) and CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) credentials, and teaches post-graduate physiotherapy courses through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. In addition to manual therapy courses, Allen has completed post-graduate courses in dry needling (IMS/IMT), movement assessment, functional testing and therapeutic exercise prescription. Allen’s interests include hockey, baseball, golf, running, and fitness training.

Wendy Hofmann: BScPT, DipSportPT, CAFCI

Wendy Hofmann is a bilingual, Registered Physiotherapist. She has completed a post-graduate diploma in sport physiotherapy and was selected to the Canadian health care team at the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. She has completed many post-graduate courses in manual therapy, acupuncture, functional movement assessment, therapeutic exercise prescription and running biomechanics. Wendy has been a presenter at various local and national conferences on such diverse topics as rotator cuff tendinopathy, sacroiliac joint dysfunction and competitive diving injuries. She enjoys yoga, cross-country skiing and swimming, and is passionate about gardening.

Kirsten Lemmon is a bilingual, Registered Physiotherapist. She is currently completing her Masters of Clinical Science through Western University and will soon receive her designation as an advanced manual/manipulative therapist (FCAMPT). She received her sport physiotherapy diploma in May of 2016 and is the head physiotherapist for the Nepean Knights Jr. B Lacrosse team. She works with Volleyball Canada and Skate Canada, and is hopeful to be on the Olympic medical team in the near future. In addition to completing a 1 year Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Fowler-Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic, she has completed post-graduate courses in manual therapy, dry needling, acupuncture, concussion rehabilitation, and therapeutic exercise prescription. Kirsten enjoys playing volleyball, kayaking and travelling.

Matthew McKinnell is a Registered Physiotherapist. Matthew has completed post-graduate courses in manual therapy, dynamic stability, dry needling (IMS/IMT), acupuncture, movement assessment, functional testing and therapeutic exercise prescription. Matthew has played on and coached various community teams, including hockey and baseball teams. He has completed several half marathons and triathlons. Recently, he has re-discovered a passion for golf.

Brooke is a Registered Physiotherapist. She has completed post-graduate courses in manual therapy, acupuncture, movement assessment, therapeutic exercise prescription and running injuries as well as a Masters of Rehabilitation Science. Brooke has a special interest in the rehabilitation and prevention of ACL injuries. She has developed a program to assess, educate and prescribe exercises to help in the prevention of knee injuries for athletes. Brooke enjoys curling, hiking and skiing.

Nicol McNiven: BScHK, MScPT

Nicol McNiven is a bilingual, Registered Physiotherapist. She has completed post-graduate courses in running assessments and functional movement training. Nicol has worked as a team therapist for volleyball, hockey, running, rugby, soccer and football. She is currently the executive therapist for the Ottawa Sooners Football and the head therapist for the North Football Academy. Nicol’s interests include curling, running, swimming, rockclimbing, skiing and fitness training.

Eli Montuno is a Registered Physiotherapist, Kinesiologist, and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy. While at McMaster University, he was a team therapist for the Varsity Squash and Men’s Varsity Basketball teams. In addition to completing a postgraduate diploma in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, specializing in manipulative therapy, Eli has completed post-graduate courses in dry needling (IMS/IMT), manual therapy, functional assessment and exercise prescription. He has a keen interest in music/DJing, as well as basketball, running and resistance training.

Kayla Robinson: BScHK, RHN

Kayla Robinson has a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics and is certified as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. She believes that nutrition is fundamental to health and that each individual has unique nutritional needs. As part of the office administration team at Evolution Physiotherapy for over 4 years, Kayla has a great understanding for the importance of nutrition in the overall health of our clients – particularly in regards to injury recovery, pain management, and chronic disease prevention. Her areas of interest include digestive health, allergies and food sensitivities, fatigue and energy, weight loss and metabolic conditions. Kayla enjoys developing and experimenting with new foods and recipes. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, cycling, practicing yoga and travelling.

Julie Shearer: BScPT, MClSc, FCAMPT

Julie is a Registered Physiotherapist and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy. She has completed numerous post graduate courses in manual therapy, acupuncture, functional movement, exercise and taping techniques as well she obtained her Masters of Clinical Science through the University of Western Ontario. Outside clinical work Julie is an assistant instructor and mentor for post-graduate manual therapy courses. Julie was a competitive rower and while no longer competing she still enjoys staying fit whether it be rowing, running, cross country skiing or just enjoying an active lifestyle with friends and family.

Danielle Lord

Danielle joined Evolution Physiotherapy in July 2016. With a background in office administration and previous clinic experience, she is a great addition to the team. In her free time Danielle enjoys spending time with her family and dog, practicing yoga and paper crafting. You will also find her volunteering at various community events in Stittsville.

Rhonda MacLean

Rhonda has been working at Evolution Physiotherapy since it’s inception. Her education programs at both the University of Waterloo (Psychology and English) and Algonquin College (Library & Information Technician and Accounting) have prepared her for her rewarding work at Evolution Physiotherapy – helping clients at the clinic and taking care of office administration.
